The Mount Bourda is a small forest of about thirty acres remained preserved from urbanization. The atmospheres are amazing forest and the visitor is suddenly immersed in the grandeur of rainforests, just behind the built-up areas.
Flora
Although this is a secondary forest, afforestation has a canopy that spreads its dense foliage to about thirty meters above the ground.
Many epiphytes are seen in them, especially bromeliads, wild orchids, creepers .... Along the new
path, there are some remarkable trees, including Ficus stranglers very impressive dimensions.
On Mount Bourda as on other mountains of Cayenne, we still regularly encounter a troop of monkeys, sloths, agoutis and other forest species. Birds are also numerous, benefiting edge effects.
The Salines Montjoly are a coastal marsh, which, although encircled in a residential area, nevertheless retains an interest in landscape and environmental quite remarkable in an urban environment. Solutions are being studied to correct dystrophies aquatic environments.
